Hi, my name is Jim Aitchison and I am a cartoonist and illustrator.

I do commissioned work as well as generate my own art projects. Some of these are single images, such as “Only Women Gossip”, seen in the GALLERY, and these are for sale as well as for exhibition. Other work comprises of graphic stories based on characters of my own creation such as ‘Ord’, short for Ordinary Man. Work commissioned includes ‘The Maritime Trail’ poster and more recently a design for ‘The Playford Ball’ both for Kings Lynn Tourism. [The Ball is part of the ‘Vancouver’ celebrations being organised in the town]. Other recent work has been ‘Greyfriars Reflections’ commissioned by The Mayor of Lynn.

I have illustrated stories for children, an example being the Red Indian character ‘Swiftfoot’.

I am an accredited advisor, at Silver and Bronze levels, for the young persons’ Arts Award scheme. The Arts Council and Trinity College, London support the scheme.

I run art workshops for children and adults, covering the subject matter of cartoon work and drawing. The workshops are run in conjunction with the Kings Lynn Art Centre as well as local authority Arts Officers from Lynn, Breckland and North Norfolk. I also work as part of the team from Creative Arts East, as well as the Plus Strategy programme. Community art projects are important and I am currently working with an adult Mental Health group as well as a group of teenagers from South Lynn as part of the Norfolk Arts Partnership.
